After a sluggish 2019, traffic at Cancun International Airport is rebounding, according to the latest numbers from parent company ASUR.
Cancun Airport handled a total of 2.277 million passengers in January, representing a 4.1 percent increase compared to the same period in 2019.
That was buoyed by a 3.9 percent increase in international traffic, with a total of 1.57 million passengers in the period.
Domestic traffic rose by 4.4 percent, with a total of 674,760 passengers in January, according to ASUR data.
It’s a strong sign for one of the busiest tourism destinations in the wider region after much of the Mexican Caribbean struggled to grow last year.
