There’s a major new museum in the Mexican Caribbean.
The Museo Frida Kahlo has expanded with a new museum in the beach town of Playa del Carmen on the Riviera Maya.
The Museo Frida Kahlo Riviera Maya, which debuted earlier this summer, is located on Playa del Carmen’s always-bustling Quinta Avenida, or Fifth Avenue.
The colorful, modern museum opened its doors in time for the 110th anniversary of Kahlo’s birth, with a mix of audiovisual installations, exhibits and, of course, a collection of Kahlo’s artwork.
It’s the second location for the museum, whose original location is in Mexico City.
The Mexican painter was a legend of the art world thanks to a remarkable career in the first half of the 20th century.
