Delta Launching New York-St. Kitts Flights

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - May 22, 2017

Delta Airlines has announced plans to launch new nonstop flights to St. Kitts, including a new route.

The highlight is the carrier’s planned launch of a new weekly Saturday flight from New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport to St. Kitts, with service beginning Dec. 23.

Delta is also adding a second weekly flight from Atlanta to St. Kitts operating on Tuesdays between Jan. 9, 2018 and March 27, 2018.

Delta will operate a Boeing 757-200 aircraft on the JFK flights and the Atlanta flights.

“The launch of this additional service from Delta is very significant for St. Kitts and demonstrates confidence in our expanding tourism product by a key airlift partner,” said St. Kitts Tourism Minister Lindsay Grant. “The timing of this additional flying is especially favorable, with many of our new hotel developments including Belle Mont Farm at Kittitian Hill, Park Hyatt St. Kitts at Christophe Harbour and others either open or soon to be opening. The Northeastern U.S. has historically been our largest source market for visitors and Atlanta is the most highly-trafficked airport in the U.S., therefore these flights help support our growing room stock.”

The new Delta service out of New York is another boost for travelers in the tri-state area, currently served by United flights out of Newark and American Airlines flights out of New York.

Indeed, United is now offering a $300 credit to travelers who book flights to St. Kitts out of Newark.

“We are very pleased to welcome the new Delta flight from JFK, as it is a very strong O/D and flow market for the Federation and, in particular, for Nevis, while the additional peak season service from Atlanta further expands capacity from a top gateway,” said St. Kitts Foreign Affairs and Aviation Minister Mark Brantley. “These flights align perfectly with our strategy to provide non-stop airlift from our key international gateways.”

“Delta is committed to providing a network that supports both business and leisure travel needs, while also offering our customers unmatched operational reliability and innovative products and services at the airport and onboard,” said Henry Kuykendall, Delta’s Vice President – New York. “This new service to St. Kitts bolsters our strong portfolio of Caribbean destinations from JFK and adds to our more than 500 daily departures from New York to points worldwide.”
