Haiti’s strong tourism growth continued in 2014, according to new data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization.
The country, which has been developing a long-dormant sector in recent years, received a total of 465,174 stayover visitors last year, according to the CTO.
That represented a 10.8 percent improvement over the previous year.
The country’s growth was particularly strong in last year’s tourist season, when it showed a 24.7 percent improvement over the same period in 2013.
The country also saw a 5.2 percent improvement during the summer season.
That came after Haiti saw a 17.9 percent improvement in tourism in 2013.
Haiti’s tourist sector is set for another boost this year, when the new Haiti Marriott is slated to open in Port-au-Prince.
