The project is called “Honeycomb,” and it doesn’t really look like anything else in the Caribbean.

Honeycomb, a group of luxury residences, is part of an expansion of the Albany beach and golf community in the Bahamas that might just be the most revolutionary real estate design in the Caribbean.

Renowned Danish architect Bjarke Ingels and his Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) are leading the design of the project.

The 175,000-square-foot (16,000-square-metre), 34-unit building will form building 1 of the Albany Marina Residences and will be the tallest structure in the Albany development.

It will have a full glass facade, pools sunken into the balcony floors of each unit and summer kitchens.

The building will form the centrepiece of the Marina Residences masterplan, according to BIG, the first of three Marina buildings, including “Lantern” and “Financial Centre.”

The project is a partnership between Albany, New Valley and luxury brokerage firm Douglas Elliman, which will be marketing the project for sale.

Honeycomb is scheduled to break ground in the summer, and is slated to open in the first half of 2016.

Golfer Tiger Woods was one of the initial investors in the Albany project, which is owned by Tavistock Group.
