The island of St Thomas will play host to the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s State of the Industry Conference in 2014, the CTO announced.

The decision was announced last week at the 2013 edition of the conference, which was held this year on the French island of Martinique.

The conference could prove to be a boost for the United States Virgin Islands. The USVI’s tourism commissioner, Beverly Nicholson-Doty currently chairs the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

Another Virgin Islander, Governor John de Jongh, was one of the featured speakers in Martinique last week.

The conference is slated to take place in October.
