It’s the Caribbean’s biggest source market for tourism, but the region is now looking to the United States for a wave of new investment.
Around 200 US investors and entrepreneurs attended a one-day forum in Washington, DC earlier this month focusing on “Business Opportunities in the Caribbean” at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Centre.
The conference was organized by the CARICOM Caucus of Ambassadors, ExportDC, the US Commercial Service, the US Small Business Administration, the DC Chamber of Commerce and the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Centre.
The forum saw participation from 11 Caribbean embassies in Washinton, with each embassy hosting a country display table to highlight local opportunities.
The CARICOM Caucus of Ambassadors hopes to host similar events in early October in US cities including Wilmington, Delaware, Philadelphia, Richmond and Baltimore, according to CARICOM.
“The Caribbean is open for business,” said Dr Neil Parsan, Chairman of the Caucus.
