Antigua Concludes Carnival

Antigua concluded its 2013 Carnival celebrations in St John’s Tuesday night.

The festival, which began at the end of July, was a whirlwind tour of the country’s arts, culture and music.

Soca singer Ezzy Rattigan highlighted the winners at this year’s carnival, taking the crown in the Jumpy Monarch competition with his song, “Golden Cup.”

Tian Winter was the winner in the Groovy Monarch competition this year, while LIME Dynamics won the 2013 Band of the Year for its portrayal, “All That Jazz.”

Among large bands, the Revellers Mas Club’s A Visit to the Mother Land took home the top honours, while Ali and Associates was the top-ranked medium band for its portrayal, Dazzling.

Among small bands, Just Friends won for its portrayal of “Tribal Mas.”

The Ladies of Style won the award in the Marching Band category, among other winners.
