The Ernest Hemingway Museum in Cuba will soon have a new sculpture for its collection.

The work, by Italian artist Renzo Orvieto, was donated by fellow Italian Franco Lucchetta. It will occupy the former home of Hemingway in the town of San Francisco de Paula, called Finca La Vigia.

Hemingway spent a number of years in Havana, using it as the setting for one of his novels, To Have and Have Not. (Although he wrote the book while living in Key West). For now, visitors will be able to see the sculpture in the stem of Hemingway’s famous fishing boat, the Pilar.

It will later be placed in one of the booths at the pool at the home, according to Ada Rosa Alfonso, the director of the museum. The work, titled “Trophee Hemingway,” is a bust of Hemingway, bordered by a marlin and set on a wooden base.

It was the trophy of an international fishing tournament in 1989. The donation was made in commemoration of the victory of Italy over fascism in April 1945.
