W’s First-Ever All-Inclusive Hotel Is Opening in the Dominican Republic Next Month

By: Alexander Britell - March 23, 2025

A speakeasy. A rum club. A tap room. A noodle bar. These aren’t the first things you think of when you dream up even the most creative all-inclusive resort. For the newest all-inclusive brand in the Caribbean, that is precisely the point.

In less than a month, the W Hotels brand is getting into the all-inclusive space, and it’s an exciting new entry to the ultra-competitive market in the Dominican Republic.

The new W Punta Cana will have many of the signatures that first catapulted the brand into the pantheon of boutique-style, urban hotels: the Wet Deck, the Living Room and the FIT gym, for starters.

But unlike the average W hotel in New York or LA, the Uvero Alto beach resort (right in Punta Cana) will have a whopping 13 different dining concepts, all with what parent company Marriott calls an “elevated” all-inclusive program. That means a “Trade Market” with live-action food stations in lieu of a traditional buffet. A beer hall that’s actually part of the all-inclusive plan. An Asian street fare-style noodle and wok eatery. And yes, even a speakeasy called 33 1/3.

What a premier room looks like.

It all sounds very cool, and we’re excited about the prospect of Marriott’s sizable all-inclusive push now extending to the beloved W brand.

The 340-room hotel is opening on April 15, Caribbean Journal has learned, and rooms are now bookable for that date.

So what else do you need to know?

The pool scene will be a big part of the W experience.

Keeping with the vibe (and the current trends of Caribbean travel), it will be an adults-only hotel, with amenities like an AWAY spa (with 10 treatment rooms and a sauna “cabin”), a FIT gym and, true to another increasingly popular aspect of Caribbean hotels, a broad slate of activities that cover wellness, culture and adventure.

The idea is to “move, explore and connect,” W says.

The rooms begin with “premier” options, with a king bed and a tropical view ($1,900 per night in April), going up to premier deluxe with two king beds and a private pool ($2,160 per night) and then larger options like the W Suite and the Larimar Penthouse Suite (which has three bedrooms and a private pool, among other inclusions).

It’s not your average all-inclusive.

So how do you get there? Fly to Punta Cana’s excellent airport (one of our favorites in the region) and take a short 15-minute transfer to Uvero Alto.

Flights to Punta Cana are broadly available, with roundtrips at $450 on American from Miami and $488 on Frontier from Chicago in mid-April, according to options from Google Flights.
