Fast-growing Dominican airline Arajet is adding another route within the Caribbean, Caribbean Journal has learned.
The local carrier, which just announced plans to launch flights from Miami to Punta Cana in June, will be adding a nonstop route between San Juan, Puerto Rico and Santo Domingo.
The new service will actually be taking off earlier, with service starting on June 5, according to the company.
The plan is to eventually add flights between New York and the Dominican Republic, according to Arajet CEO Victor Pacheco.
“Beginning US operations with flights from these cities is the next step toward realizing our vision of the DR as a new travel hub of the continent,” he told Caribbean Journal.
“This is the beginning of our US operations, and these routes will expand tourism in our region, making it easier for travelers to discover our country.”
So what about prices?
Arajet says it is offering opening fares of about $84 each way.
