Turks and Caicos’ New Resort Just Opened in an Under-the-Radar Corner of Providenciales

By: Alexander Britell - December 1, 2024

Maybe you know the shimmering white sand beach at Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos, a beach that’s regularly considered one of the best beaches on earth (we feel the same way). Or Long Bay, the increasingly hot stretch of sand that’s home to the fantastic Shore Club resort.

You may not know about Cooper Jack Bay, however. But this small corner of the southern coast of Providenciales is now the home of Turks and Caicos’ newest resort: The Strand.

The beach hotel, which just opened its doors this week, has more than 46 rooms in all, with a residential resort concept spread across villas. Suites and residences.

The property, which is the newest Caribbean member of the Leading Hotels of the World, has a beach club, tennis and pickleball courts, a marina and a private boat accessible to guests.

It’s a modern, sleek residential resort.

There’s a signature restaurant that doubles as a beach club: The DelMar, which has what the resort calls a “living green roof” and a focus on wood-fired dishes across a fusion menu. There’s also a waterfront bar.

Next year, the resort will be adding a new spa and kids club, the property told Caribbean Journal.

And while Cooper Jack Bay may not be on the radar of most Provo travelers, it’s actually exceedingly easy to get to — it’s just about a 10 minute drive from the island’s main airport.

The well-appointed rooms have sweeping patios with stunning views of the Caicos Banks.

So what about cost?

You can find rooms in the second week of December for as low as $750 per night. The hotel is fully booked for the festive season (the Christmas-New Year’s period), but in the second week of January rates will climb to around $825 per night when rooms become available again.

That price applies to a traditional suite at The Strand, which indulges a wet bar, a large terrace, an elevated patio, a Sub Zero fridge, stone walls and prime views of the Caicos Banks.

It’s the second major hotel opening in Turks and Caicos in the last month, following the recent debut of the South Bank, another residential-style property, on Long Bay.
