IHG is opening its first-ever Vignette Collection resort in the Mexico-Caribbean region next year, Caribbean Journal has learned.
The new El Gran Encomendero is set in the town of Valladolid at the corner of the Yucatan Peninsula, at the crossroads of the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.
The 83-room hotel will be the first international-branded hotel in Valladolid, one of the Mexico Tourism Ministry’s “Magical Towns” for its cultural and historic offering.
Amenties will include a restaurant, a bar, a rooftop pool, a gym and a wellness center, among others.
IHG has been steadily growing its Caribbean-Mexico portfolio, with another new hotel, the InterContinental Grenada, also expected to open in 2025.
That follows the company’s recent debut of the Six Senses Grenada this spring.
