Parent company Sandals Resorts International already has two properties on the island, both Sandals-branded.

Beaches, the family-focused brand of Sandals Resorts International, is expanding to a new Caribbean island, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The company has announced plans to open the new Beaches Barbados, with plans to break ground later this year.

The new resort will have a total of 600 rooms, with a mix of king and queen suites and larger, four-bedroom, 3,000-square-foot villa-style suites.

It will join two existing Sandals resorts in Barbados: Sandals Barbados and Sandals Royal Barbados.

Most notably, the company says it will include a “Main Street” concept that is a winding central thoroughfare of the property that will include dining and shopping, along with outdoor stages and a modern sports bar, among other concepts.

“As a family from the Caribbean, we have a deep love for our islands, and it’s incredibly gratifying to draw inspiration from our guests,” said Adam Stewart, executive chairman of Beaches Resorts.
