Aruba has been one of the fastest-growing Caribbean destinations for travelers from South America, thanks to a concerted effort by the island’s tourism officials to court more tourism from the continent.
Those efforts just got a major boost with the launch of Brazilian carrier GOL’s first-ever nonstop flights between São Paulo and Aruba.
The new flight is operating three times per week, with service on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Aruba’s airport says visits from Latin America are growing by more than 43 percent in the last year, with almost 310,000 seats from the continent by the end of last year.
GOL is the only airline operating flights between Brazil and Aruba.
“This opens a new door between Brazil and our island, not only facilitating access but also positioning Aruba as a preferred destination for Brazilians in the Caribbean,” said Ronella Croes, CEO of Aruba Tourism Authority.
