The Dominican Republic’s most popular destination is set for another boost from an increasingly important US source market: Connecticut.
Fast-growing low-cost carrier Avelo has revealed its plans to launch new nonstop service between Hartford and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, Caribbean Journal has learned.
The news comes after Avelo just added a pair of new Caribbean routes from Hartford to Jamaica and Cancun.
The new Punta Cana service will kick off on Feb. 21, 2025, operating two times per week, with flights on Mondays and Fridays.
Avelo said it would be operating the flights on Boeing 737 aircraft.
It will be the third Caribbean route for the carrier out of Hartford. Avelo also flies to Puerto Rico out of another Connecticut airport, New Haven.
It’s a convenient new option for travelers in the New England area, particularly those in Connecticut who would prefer not to have to make the drive into Queens or Newark to fly to the Caribbean.
What about prices? Right now Avelo has prices as low as $39 one way.
