LATAM Just Relaunched Its Peru-Montego Bay Flights

By: Dana Niland - December 9, 2024

While Latin America hasn’t had the relevance for most of the Caribbean the way markets like the United States, Canada and the UK have, that’s been starting to change of late.

Increasingly, Latin American travelers are heading to the Caribbean, particularly southern Caribbean destinations like Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao.

But a recently-relaunched flight could help the northern Caribbean.

LATAM just resumed its flights between Peru and Montego Bay, a big step for Jamaica’s efforts to court South American travelers.

South America is the “next frontier for Jamaica’s tourism growth,” said Jamaica Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett. “ Through LATAM’s Lima hub and our ongoing discussions with other carriers, we are positioning Jamaica to become the number one Caribbean destination for South American visitors.”

For now, the service is running three times per week, with flights on Sundays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Jamaican tourism officials suggest the flights could take in as many as 45,000 visitors in the first year of service.
