Bahamas, Guyana Eye Greater Air Connectivity

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - December 1, 2024

The Bahamas and Guyana have signed an air service agreement, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The two countries signed the agreement in Nassau this past week, with an eye toward improving air connectivity.

The ultimate goal is to have direct flights between both countries.

The Bahamas has been an increasingly important player in Caribbean aviation, from its broad network of Bahamasair flights within the country and, more recently, new flights between Nassau and Montego Bay

The Bahamas will continue to solidify its regional aviation position by hosting the high-level Routes Americas conference at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort in February 2025.

Guyana has been seeing a wave of new flights in recent years thanks to its massive oil discovery off its Atlantic coastline, which has been transforming the country’s economy.
