There Are No Nonstop Flights From the UK to Cancun. That’s About to Change.
The resorts, the shopping, the beaches. Particularly since the pandemic, the Mexican Caribbean destination of Cancun has been one of the biggest tourism success stories in the wider region.
Now, it’s set for a big boost from the United Kingdom market, Caribbean Journal has learned.
Virgin Atlantic has announced plans to return service to Cancun for the first time since before the onset of the pandemic, the carrier confirmed.
The new route from London Heathrow to Cancun will start next winter, with flights beginning Oct. 19, 2025.
The service on Virgin’s Airbus A350s will operate thrice per week, according to the company, with service on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
It will be the only nonstop flight between the United Kingdom and Cancun, providing a lift for an airport in Cancun that has been seeing some slowing numbers in the last few months.
Cancun is a “new destination for some winter sun,” said Virgin’s Chief Commercial Officer, Juha Jarvinen, in a statement. “Cancun has an amazing nightlife and dining scene, dreamy sandy beaches, plus it’s the perfect gateway to Mayan ruins and adventure travel in the region.”
What about prices? The flights will start off at £562 per person. Flights are already available for booking.
