JetBlue Is Adding More Nonstop Flights to the Cayman Islands As Travel Demand Surges
There’s something about the water. Something mystical, something wonderful. If you’ve been to Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman, you understand.
Is this water just a little bit warmer? Or a little bit clearer? Or is just the way it makes you feel?
That beach is a big reason why there’s so much repeat visitation to the Cayman Islands and Grand Cayman in particular. Of course, it’s just a part of the vibrant tapestry of Grand Cayman: the world-class culinary scene, the unrivaled snorkeling and diving; the shopping, the culture, the stunning, sparkling hotels (like the wonderful new Hotel Indigo); the wonder that is Camana Bay. And it’s one of a cornucopia of beautiful stretches of sand across the islands, whether you’re out at Cayman Kai or on the sugar-white coastlines of South Sound.
This year, it’s been more of the same in Grand Cayman: tourist arrivals continue to surge, with a nearly 7 percent increase in stayover visits and a surge in travel demand, as several travel advisors told Caribbean Journal.
What that also means is the destination is seeing a big jump in new airlift, including from JetBlue.
The airline is set to add a third weekly flight from Boston to Grand Cayman later this month, with the expansion set to take effect on Oct. 28. That will mean flights from Boston to Grand Cayman on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The price? Special fares at $198 one way, according to JetBlue.
JetBlue also flies between New York-JFK and Grand Cayman (that flight now has prices starting at $113 one-way)
That increase comes as another powerhouse, American Airlines, prepares to launch new daily service from Dallas-Fort Worth to Grand Cayman, beginning Dec. 4.
Also in December, Delta will be running a new thrice-weekly route between Minneapolis and Grand Cayman, in another big post for the destination.
Are you planning a getaway to the Cayman Islands?
The island’s hotels have never been better, from signature luxury resorts like the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman and the Kimpton Seafire to the aforementioned Hotel Indigo, set a short stroll from Seven Mile Beach and home to outstanding amenities including the only rooftop bar in the Cayman Islands.
Another new hotel concept, Vida, just opened in Grand Cayman, with a boutique feel and a distinct wellness focused – it’s the perfect option for experimental-focused travelers and those looking for a getaway based around self-care and exploration.
If you’re looking to get further off the beaten path, you can venture to one of the sister islands: rugged, low-key, adventured-filled Cayman Brac, or dreamy Little Cayman, the sort of tiny, uncrowded, beach-filled destination you don’t think exists in the Caribbean anymore.
There are also a host of special offers for Cayman travel right now; you can find out more at Cayman Islands Tourism.
