Caribbean Airlines Just Launched Its First-Ever Flights to Tortola

By: Caitlin Sullivan - October 14, 2024

The energy of Road Town. The island-hopping from Trellis Bay. The inimitable vibe of Soper’s Hole. Tortola has a rarefied spot in the Caribbean travel pantheon — and while it’s still most popular as a jumping-off point for the rest of the British Virgin Islands archipelago, it’s home to a some serious charms of its own.

Now, it’s the newest destination for fast-expanding Caribbean Airlines, which officially landed its first flight to Tortola on Monday.

The new service, which links Trinidad and Tortola, will be running four times per week, with flights on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Tortola is the latest in a growing number of new destinations for the carrier, which is part of a full-fledged renaissance for intra-regional air travel in the last few years.

The Trinidad-Tortola flights also offer connections to Antigua and Puerto Rico on Mondays and Wednesdays, according to the carrier; That’s along with connections on Saturdays through Barbados.

The new flight is an “important chapter in Caribbean Airlines’ expansion,” Caribbean Airlines CEO Garvin Medera said in a statement provided to Caribbean Journal.

It’s the second big piece of news for Tortola this week, following the rebranding of the former Quito’s Luxury Inn on Cane Garden Bay.

“This is our first ever connectivity to the British Virgin Islands and this means that we now have 24 destinations within our network, connecting the Region, North and South America,” he said.

So what do the new flights cost?

Right now, fares cost about $523 round trip, including taxes, fees and other charges.
