The Pitons. The three-wall resorts. The floating water park. The chocolate. The rainforest. Saint Lucia is one of the more unique travel offerings in the Caribbean — and now the island has a new leader for its tourism efforts.

The island’s Saint Lucia Tourism Authority has brought back former CEO Louis Lewis as its new CEO, succeeding outgoing chief executive Lorine Charles-St. Jules.

Louis had previously served as director of tourism at what was then known as the Saint Lucia Tourist Board for nine years through 2017.

Lewis most recently served as CEO of the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited.

Lewis said the return to Saint Lucia “allows me to return to my roots,” he said in a statement to Caribbean Journal.

“My focus will be on deepening our connection to the tourism trade, enhancing our destination’s appeal, and enriching the visitor experience,” he said.

In a statement, Saint Lucia Tourism Authority Chairman Thaddeus M. Antoine said the board was “excited to welcome Louis to the helm.”

“His extensive experience and proven track record make him the ideal leader for our next phase of tourism development. We are confident in his ability to navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead,” he said.
