Sandals Barbados.

It’s the newest “Caribbean” airline. With intra-regional travel long a challenge in the region, US-based ultra-low-cost carrier is stepping in to fill the void, thanks to a new crew base in San Juan.

This week, Frontier just launched its first-ever flights to Barbados, with nonstop service out of San Juan.

The flights are running three times per week.

So what about the price?

In a welcome development, fares are starting at just $69 — far less than, say, you used to get on LIAT.

Barbados is one of several new destinations Frontier is now serving out of San Juan, including St Maarten, St Croix, Santiago in the Dominican Republic and, beginning next week, Trinidad.
