Chef JJ Johnson is the newest celebrity chef to debut at Atlantis.

Nobu Matsuhisa, Jose Andres, Michael White, Alon Shaya. Now another celebrity chef has debuted a restaurant at The Bahamas’ Atlantis Paradise Island resort.

The newest name? Chef JJ Johnson, who has debuted his FIELDTRIP, a fast-casual, “community-driven” rice bowl shop featuring Afro-Caribbean cuisine.

The restaurant, which first opened in Harlem and now has three locations in New York, is focused on sustainability, including the use of locally sourced seafood.

Dishes range from fried chicken with sticky BBQ sauce to sweet plantains and “crab pockets,” the latter made with blue crab, garlic herb cream cheese and sweet and sour sauce.

“Atlantis Paradise Island is one of the most iconic and epic destinations there is, and the opportunity to join the family with FIELDTRIP is super exciting. The resort is one of the world’s most photographed backdrops, and I hope that FIELDTRIP’s global menu speaks to its travelers of all international backgrounds. FIELDTRIP Atlantis will be a place for all guests of the resort to gather over food,” Johnson said in a statement provided to Caribbean Journal.

Johnson already has a history with Atlantis, having participated in the resort’s popular Nassau Paradise Island Wine & Food Festival.

“Chef JJ and FIELDTRIP are welcome additions to Atlantis’ culinary roster,” said Atlantis’ President and Managing Director, Audrey Oswell.

The addition of Johnson only reinforces Nassau’s position as arguably the Caribbean’s hottest culinary destination.
