Puerto Rico’s air traffic is showing no signs of slowing down, even as other tourism hotspots cool off in the shoulder season.
Passenger traffic at the island’s main air hub, Luis Munoz Marin International Airport, rose by 24.1 percent in September, compared to the same period in 2022.
Total passenger traffic in San Juan was 779,645, up from 628,379 in September 2022.
That included a 46.4 percent increase in international traffic, up to 79,484 from 54,300 in September of last year.
For the year, the numbers are equally strong: total passenger traffic is nearing 9.3 million, a more than 20.2 recent increase over the first three quarters of 2022.
The data was released by Mexico-baed ASUR, which manages the airport.
