This Is the Caribbean’s Best Christmas Festival

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - October 11, 2023

Music stars, delicious Caribbean food, endless cultural celebration.

This is the best Christmas festival in the Caribbean, and it’s a unique way to spend the festive season in the islands.

St Croix’s beloved Crucian Christmas is back again this year, a December celebration that will include a full lineup of musical performances.

That includes Festival Village Nights, including a show headlined by Afrobeats star Davido, which will conclude 12 days of celebrations in the Festival Village.

Davido will be joined by music stars like Mr. Killa, Mic Love, Bugz, Sisa and Quantizing backed by Blind Earz Band.

This year’s Crucian Christmas Festival runs from Dec. 26 to Jan. 6, with entertainment every night, centered around the Festival Village, which includes an array of local shops, eateries and cultural offerings.

It’s an event that has become a bucket-list stop for frequent travelers to the Caribbean, putting St Croix’s “vibe like no other” in full display.

The musical lineup begins with International Cultural Night on Dec. 29, with performances from legendary US Virgin Islands groups like Stanley & The Ten Sleepless Knights, Spectrum Band, Xpress Band, and Cool Session Brass.

“I am proud and excited to experience the action-packed series of Village Nights the Division of Festivals has in store for us at this year’s Crucian Christmas Festival,” exclaims U.S. Virgin Islands Commissioner of Tourism Joseph Boschulte. “This year, we are continuing to broaden our scope for carnival celebrations throughout the territory, and the cornerstone for that is providing top entertainment to residents and guests.”

St Croix Native Adam O headlines Soca Night alongside Virgin Islands breakout star Pumpa and Trinidadian songstress Patrice Roberts. The bands will take over the Village with a Band-o-Rama night featuring the Virgin Islands’ Karnage with special guest Krosfyah from Barbados.

“This year, we are excited to begin to bridge the gap between Africa and the USVI, bringing one of the leading AfroBeats artists to the territory for the first time,” said Ian Turnbull, Division of Festivals Director. “Our ongoing goal of continued cultural exchange expands across the ocean to tap into our roots, allowing us to grow our festivals into an international event.”
