Delta Air Lines Is Launching Flights From Miami to The Bahamas

By: Alexander Britell - August 27, 2023

In a major development, Delta Air Lines is planning its first-ever flights between Miami and The Bahamas, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The Atlanta-based carrier is launching nonstop flights between Miami and Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau.

The move could signal a major foray for Delta into the wider Caribbean out of Miami, a city that is of course home to American Airlines’ massive regional presence.

The new flights come as Nassau Paradise Island and The Bahamas at large continue to see surging tourism in 2023.

“This move is another demonstration of the incredible demand for the destination and the reward of our efforts to strengthen partnerships to increase stopover visitors to our shores,” said Bahamas Deputy Prime Minister and Tourism Minister Chester Cooper. “This route will help satisfy that demand and it will also help Bahamians get to and from Florida easier.”

Bahamian tourism officials have been making a major push to court more tourists from the South Florida market, already a significant stronghold for Bahamian tourism.

The Miami-Nassau flight will kick off on Nov. 5, 2023, operating daily.

Delta will be flying a Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the route, which is targeting year-round service.

Delta is flying to Nassau from five different US airports this winter, including Atlanta, Boston, New York-JFK and New York-LaGuardia.
