Why to Visit The Bahamas’ Nassau Paradise Island in July
As visitors continue to flock to Nassau Paradise Island, the twin-island destination is readying for an unforgettable July as The Bahamas celebrates its 50th Anniversary of Independence.
Many of the island’s top resorts are ramping up activity for the celebrations, which will be held around The Bahamas beginning on the first of July.
That includes The Bahamas’ famous Atlantis Paradise Island resort, which will be lighting up the night sky to honor the 50th Anniversary with a world class fireworks display on July 10, illuminating the “island’s vibrant colors, turquoise waters, pink buildings, and joy of the people.”
Cable Beach’s Baha Mar resort has set up a multitude of festivities from July 1-10, from a Taste of the Islands Fair to a Junkanoo craft pop-up.
That includes regular performances by Bahamian choirs, nightly Junkanoo parades and even a beachfront performance by the Royal Bahamas Police Force Band on July 5.
On July 8, Baha Mar will include a special Junkanoo craft pop-up, giving guests the chance to create Junkanoo craft and even become honorary Junkanoo dancers.
Paradise Islands Comfort Suites resort is transforming its pool deck with a live band, joined by a specially-crafted menu at the property’s beloved Crusoe’s Restaurant.
July 10 will see the 50th Independence People’s Rush, a colorful, vibrant Junkanoo celebration in Nassau.
This year is also seeing the 50th anniversary of Nassau’s legendary Graycliff Resort, long the anchor of downtown Nassau and one of the countries celebrity-favorite places to stay. That included special anniversary packages, limited-edition cigars and, later this year, a 50th-anniversary gala.
The Bahamas won its independence from England on July 10, 1973, led by the movement of Lynden Pindling, the man who would become the country’s first Prime Minister.
Nassau and Paradise Island have been some of the biggest tourism success stories of the post-pandemic period, with arrival numbers surging so far in 2023.
The destination also just welcomed its newest hotel, the highly-anticipated Goldwynn Resort on Cable Beach, another addition to a destination that was taken to the next level by the entry of the Baha Mar back in 2017.
