Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Hotels and Resorts is now in Belize.
The hotel brand has opened its newest Caribbean resort, the Margaritaville Beach Resort Ambergris Caye, Belize in the heart of Belize’s most popular tourism destination.
The boutique-style residential resort welcomed its first guests this week.
The property is set in a secluded spot on the outskirts of Ambergris Caye, accessible only by boat, right near the world’s second-largest barrier reef.
The hotel has just 55 suites, ranging from the Ambar One-Bedroom Suite to the two-bedroom penthouse oceanfront suite.
Dining concepts include the three-meals-a-day Riddles in the Sand, which focuses on locally-sourced “island-inspired” dishes; The Sandbar, a bar and restaurant crowned by a lighthouse.
The signature bar is The Boat Drinks, open all day from 10 to 8 PM, with panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and classic cocktails like mai tais and piña coladas.
The hotel has four different barbecue areas, with special barbecue kits available for guests; for an extra splurge, you can hire a private chef create your meal.
There is also a Margaritaville St Somewhere Spa and a retail outlet called Smuggler’s Hold.
If you’re not snorkeling or diving or bobbing in the water, you can play pickleball on site, swim in two pools, play bocce, kayak or stand-up paddle.
The new Belize resort is the latest product of a partnership between Margaritaville and Karisma Hotels and Resorts, one that has resulted in both new all-inclusive resorts like the Margaritaville Island Reserve in Cap Cana and boutique hotels like the St Somewhere in Holbox, Mexico.
So how do you get there?
The best bet is to fly to Belize City and then connect on a flight to San Pedro Town in Ambergris Caye.
From there, it’s a 25-minute boat ride to the newest Margaritaville in the Caribbean.
