Barbados Has a New Tourism Minister

The island of Barbados has a new Minister of Tourism, following a cabinet reshuffle by Prime Minister Mia Mottley.

Mottley has appointed former Health Minister Ian Gooding-Edghill to the role, in which she succeeds former Tourism Minister Senator Lisa Cummins.

Gooding-Edghill has a background in tourism.

That includes graduating from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Management and serving as director of Human Resources at Barbados-based Elegant Hotels.

Cummins had served as Minister of Tourism since the summer of 2020.

Barbados is looking to recapture its tourism arrivals this winter after seeing its tourism sector severely impacted by the pandemic.
