An investment delegation from Saudi Arabia is visiting Trinidad and Tobago.
The delegation, which was led by Dr Fahad Al Dawood, began its trip on Monday. On Wednesday, the group held talks with Trinidad’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment and Trinidad’s national investment promotion firm, InvesTT Limited.
Middle Eastern investment is on the rise in the Caribbean, with high-profile projects in a number of regional countries. The most notable is the Park Hyatt in St Kitts, which is being developed by Dubai-based Range Investments.
Following the talks, Dr Al Dawood said he was looking to establish stronger investment ties between the two countries, particularly in the tourism sector.
Bharath said he was “confident that this meeting will be the start of new relations which will strengthen ties and create investments that will be mutually beneficial for both countries.”
Dawood said he believed Trinidad could attract “many tourists” from Saudi Arabia.
The delegation is holding talks with several government officials and agencies during its trip.
