Virgin Voyages Opens New Cruise Terminal in Miami
Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Voyages has officially opened its highly-anticipated cruise terminal at PortMiami.
The new Terminal V is a major addition to the Miami skyline, a LEED Gold project that comprises three stories on the northwestern corner of Miami’s port.
The 132,000-square-foot terminal was designed by renowned architecture firm Arquitectonica.
“Coming to this beautiful new terminal and seeing Scarlet Lady in her home port here in Miami has been such an incredible experience,” Branson said. “The team at Virgin Voyages has created a stunning building that delivers on our commitment to being better stewards of the earth with its LEED Gold Certification.”
The property includes more than 1,000 palm trees, with interiors giving a nod to mid-century design with a modern, high-tech touch.
“We’ve always strived to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary, and Terminal V gives us greater opportunity to elevate the Sailor experience from the moment you see the AHOY sign to the time you disembark. Scarlet Lady deserves a home as beautiful as she is, and we cannot wait for our Sailors to begin their voyage at Terminal V,” said Virgin Voyages’ CEO, Tom McAlpin.
Virgin’s Scarlet Lady cruise ship will homeport at Terminal V year round, joined by the company’s next ship, Valiant Lady, in the winter of 2022.
Both ships will sail multi-night itineraries around the Caribbean, including a stop at Virgin’s Beach Club at Bimini in The Bahamas.
