New Ferry to Operate Between St Maarten, Statia and Saba
A new ferry service is coming to the St Maarten-Statia-Saba triangle, Caribbean Journal has learned.
Anguilla-based Blues and Blues has won the tender for the inter-island maritime route between the three islands.
The company will operating the service on a 72-foot Sabre catamaran fast ferry called Makana, capable of carrying 150 passengers across two decks.
Both decks are fully air conditioned; there’s also a bar and on-board Wi-Fi.
Trips will take around 45 minutes between Saba and Statia; 75 minutes between Saba and St Maarten; and 85 minutes between Statia and St Maarten.
The new ferry will begin on Nov. 1.
“We are a family business and strongly believe that we can contribute to the social and economic development of the islands via interisland maritime connectivity, including St Barth, Anguilla and Nevis,” said Samuel Connor of Blues and Blues.
