Belize has a new Minister of Tourism, following the country’s recent general elections.
The country’s new top tourism official is Anthony Mahler, a previous Director of Product Development at the Belize Tourism Board.
“We are committed to recovering the tourism industry after COVID-19’s devastating blow to the economy,” Mahler said in a statement. “Our priority is to support tourism businesses and jobs, and restore traveler confidence. We must stimulate demand for travel to Belize in spite of COVID-19. And we must remain optimistic.”
Maher will also be focused on developing the country’s tourism product, training, and fostering “ongoing innovation and transformation toward more sustainable and resilient models of tourism development,” according to a statement from the government.
Belize reopened its borders for tourism in October. You can find more on the destination’s entry protocols for travelers here.
