Eastern Airlines Set to Launch Guyana Flights

The newly-relaunched Eastern Airlines is set to begin its first-ever commercial service to the wider Caribbean region next month.

Eastern, a revival of the branding of the once-legendary airline, will be launching nonstop flights between New York and Georgetown, Guyana beginning March 5.

“Eastern Airlines is all about serving underserved markets from around the globe and open that with low-cost fares with liberal baggage policy so that we can serve more of the world,” said Graceann Bennett, branding agent at Eastern.

The flights will be operating twice weekly, with service on Thursdays and Sundays and capacity for 200 passengers.

The company is using a rather agreeable baggage policy to distinguish itself: first checked bags are free, and can weigh up to 70 pounds.

The airline will also be featuring Guyana-sourced food on its flights.

Eastern officially launched its commercial service last month with new flights to Ecuador.
