San Juan’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport is continuing to see strong passenger growth, according to the latest data from parent company ASUR, which also operates a host of regional airports in Mexico and Colombia.
The airport saw 9.3 percent growth in passenger traffic last month, with a total of 693,694 passengers.
That was buoyed by 7.9 percent growth in traffic within the United States and 22.6 percent growth in international traffic.
It’s also a sign of Puerto Rico’s tourism recovery; for nearly a year, most year-over-year growth at the airport was simply a sign of rebound in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
Now, the increase in traffic represents full-fledged improvement — not just recovery.
