Royal Caribbean Cruises’ Celebrity Cruises brand has ordered another new ship, the company said.

Celebrity has inked an agreement with shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique for what would be a fifth “Edge-class” ship, slated for delivery in 2024.

“Edge class made an immediate hit with Celebrity Cruises guests and is a state-of-the-art example of technical excellence and elegant design,” said Richard D. Fain, Chairman and CEO, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.  “We can’t wait to build the next one.”

The first “Edge-class” ship, Celebrity Edge, made its debut last year; the company then ordered three more, with deliveries scheduled in 2020, 2021 and 2022, respectively.

“Celebrity Edge has delighted our guests and affirmed Celebrity Cruises as the leading modern luxury brand.  Chantiers de l’Atlantique has been a brilliant partner and we look forward to creating another amazing vessel with them,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO, Celebrity Cruises.

The 2,918-passenger Celebrity Edge was a revolutionary ship for the brand, with unique amenities like a “magic carpet” moving deck and a special category called The Retreat.
