Canadian carrier WestJet had big traffic numbers in August, according to the latest data report from the company.

WestJet reported 2.73 billion revenue passenger miles last month, an 8.1 percent increase compared to the same month in 2017.

Available seat miles rose by 10 percent to 3.07 billion in the same period.

For the year to date, revenue passenger miles are up by 6.9 percent to 18.78 billion.

“In August, we flew two of our busiest-ever traffic days with more than 80,000 guests choosing one of our four airline brands. In only its second full month of operation, Canadians continue to embrace Swoop with load factors consistently above ninety-five per cent,” said Ed Sims, WestJet President and CEO. “I want to thank every individual WestJetter for continuing to provide our guests with an award-winning service experience.”

The growth comes as WestJet continues to expand its Caribbean route network, most recently adding a new route from Calgary to Montego Bay and expanded flights to destinations like Belize.
