The world’s shortest commercial runway is getting a facelift.
The Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport on the Dutch Caribbean island of Saba is closing from Sept. 10 to Oct. 9 for a renovation to the world-famous runway, which measures just 400 meters.
The new project will replace the runway’s current asphalt layer will be replaced with a new concrete runway said to offer a “longer lifespan.”
During the four-week renovation project, tourism officials said there would be three additional ferry services from St Maarten to Saba, with ferries running twice daily in each direction.
