Dominican Republic Tourism Continues Steady Growth in 2018

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - March 28, 2018

By the Caribbean Journal staff

The Caribbean’s most popular tourism destination has continued its solid growth so far into 2018, according to new data released by the country’s Central Bank.

Tourist arrivals to the Dominican Republic grew by 4 percent in January and February, with a total of more than 1.2 million stayover visitors.

More crucially, about 60 percent of visitors during the period came fro the United States and Canada source markets.

The country will have to keep up this pace of growth — or exceed it — to meet its stated goal of welcoming 10 million annual tourists by 2023.
