The Caribbean-Mexico hotel pipeline continues to grow, according to the latest numbers from data and analytics specialist STR.

There were a total of 31,782 rooms across 191 projects under contract in the Caribbean and Mexico in November, a 13.6 percent increase compared to November 2015.

Under Contract data includes projects in the In Construction, Final Planning and Planning stages but does not include projects in the Unconfirmed stage.

The Caribbean-Mexico region had a total of 13,081 rooms in 87 projects in construction for the month, itself a 9.1 percent jump over the same month in 2015.

Four Caribbean countries reported more than 500 rooms in construction: Barbados, with 636 rooms in two hotels; Jamaica, with 573 rooms in two hotels; St. Lucia with 529 rooms in three hotels and Cuba with 516 rooms in one hotel.
