Could there be a more fun way to explore a destination than to eat your way around it? We think not, and the folks at St. Croix startup Virgin Islands Food Tours clearly agree.
The Christiansted-based company launched this fall with a mission to make visitors to the island feel like locals as they explore St. Croix’s history and culture through its food.
“I want visitors of St. Croix to experience the heart and soul of our island – the food – and to fall in love with this slice of paradise I’ve been blessed to call home,” says Anquanette Gaspard, the company’s founder. “St. Croix is becoming the culinary capital of the Caribbean, but too often visitors come here without tasting the foods and drinks that are the backbone of our island.”

Groups of up to a dozen people can join the Taste of Twin City tour, which runs Tuesday through Saturday and lasts approximately three hours. Expert guides lead curious foodies through the capital, revealing its storied history between stops at six local restaurants and specialty food shops, each chosen to offer a scrumptious taste of authentic Crucian cuisine.
““I wanted to make sure that each stop reflected some aspect of our culture and told a story about who we are as a people,” says Gaspard. “Visitors who take this tour will walk away learning about a new place and experiencing new foods. Locals will walk away learning new facts about St. Croix that they may have forgotten about or probably never knew. There’s something for everyone on this tour.”
