Nighttime cricket is coming to Grenada.

The country’s government has been guaranteed a $4.08 million USD loan from the Canadian Bank Note Company to erect light fixtures at the island’s National Cricket Stadium.

The news was revealed by Minister for Culture, Senator Brenda Hood this week.

The loan, which was negotiated through the National Lotteries Authority, will mean the country will be able to host night games and “significantly boost its sports tourism offerings,” Hood said.

A number of consultations will be held to ensure that the lighting is carried out to the standards of the West Indies Cricket Board.

Bids will be sent out soon, Hood said.
