It’s a new way to see some of the Caribbean’s less-heralded destinations.

Signature Vacations has announced the launched of its new “Off the Beaten Path” program, which will offer travelers a hybrid of eco-adventure and all-inclusive relaxation in Caribbean destinations like Costa Rica, Panama, La Ceiba and Roatan.

The new vacation concept will combine a stay in one of the tour operator’s leading resorts with a series of full or half day excursions that will enable customers to truly experience the heart of the country they are visiting, the company said.

Highlights might include searches for howler monkeys, kingfishers, and herons on an escorted canoeing trip along La Ceiba’s Cacao Lagoon; exploring hot springs, fumaroles, and geysers at Rincon de la Vieja National Park in Costa Rica; or visiting Panama City’s UNESCO-recognized historic center.

“We’re really excited about this new concept as we feel it combines two of the most important elements of any vacation: relaxation and exploration,” said President of Tour Operations for Signature Vacations. “While many people like the idea of adventure travel, in reality most are put off by concerns about the availability of suitable accommodations, accessibility of local transport and an insufficient knowledge of regional customs once you head off the tourist trail. This program essentially offers our customers the best of both worlds.
