Martinique has doubled its number of cruise passenger arrivals so far this year, according to data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

The French Caribbean island welcomed a total of 142,270 cruise passengers in the first 10 months of 2014, according to the most recent CTO data.

That represented a 99.9 percent increase in cruise traffic compared to the same period in 2013.

In the same period last year, Martinique received 71,177 cruise passengers.

It was the highest rate of growth of any Caribbean cruise destination this year.
