10 Caribbean Hotels You Can Only Reach By Boat

THERE’S A certain kind of luxury found in remoteness — in the feeling that you are truly a world away. Part of that means finding a place that requires a bit more of a journey. The following Caribbean hotels offer just that — as you can only reach them by boat. And we’ve included some directions — unless you have your own boat — which makes things even easier.

Palm Island — St Vincent and the Grenadines

To get to this landmark Caribbean all-inclusive in the Grenadines, you need to fly to the tiny Union Island Airport first, then take a 10-minute boat ride across the water.

Parrot Cay — Turks and Caicos Islands

This luxury outpost, famous for its COMO spa and a celebrity haunt, is about 35 minutes by boat from the Leeward Marina in Providenciales.

Petit St Vincent — St Vincent and the Grenadines

A Caribbean classic, Petit St Vincent is located on a tiny island at the tip of the Grenadines; first fly to Union Island or Canouan Island, and then take a boat. (It’s about 20 minutes from Union, 45 minutes from Canouan).

Pink Sands — Harbour Island

To get to this Bahamian jewel, one must first fly to Eleuthera and take a 10-minute water taxi to Harbour Island. (There are also ferries available to Harbour Island from Nassau).

Young Island Resort — St Vincent and the Grenadines

Young Island is a five-minute ride across the bay from the main island of St Vincent. And the property’s boat is a rather charming one, as you can see above.

Jumby Bay — Antigua

This Rosewood property is located on the 300-acre Jumby Bay island off the northeast coats of Antigua — about a seven-minute ride.

Punta Caracol Acqua Lodge — Panama

This property on Panama’s Caribbean coast takes sail-in hotel to a different level — the hotel itself is right in the water.

Green Turtle Club — Bahamas

This Bahamian resort is located on a three-mile-long island in the Abacos, and just a 15-minute ferry ride from the main island of Abaco.

Cooper Island Beach Club

This laid-back resort in the British Virgin Islands consists of beachfront cottages; getting here means a boat ride from either Hodges Creek Marina or Road Harbour Marina in Tortola.

Sandcastle Hotel — British Virgin Islands

This six-unit hotel is part of the complex at the world-famous Soggy Dollar beach bar. It’s located on the island of Jost Van Dyke, which can only be reached by boat.
