Dominican Republic President Danilo Medina received Costa Rica President-Elect Luis Guillermo Solis for a meeting on Thursday morning.
Medina was accompanied by Vice President Margarita Cedeño de Fernández and Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso.
Solis arrived with Victor Barrantes, an expert on regional integration issues, and Costa Rica’s Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Jose Rafael Torres Castro.
Medina and Solis then held discussions on areas “of mutual interest to both nations,” according to a statement from the Dominican Republic’s National Palace.
Medina currently holds the Pro Tempore presidency of the Central American Integration System, which it joined as a full member in 2013.
Solis, who won the country’s presidential elections earlier this month, will be inaugurated on May 8 in San Jose.
