Nevis’ government says it is planning to build a waste-to-energy plant on the island.

Nevis Deputy Premier Mark Brantley said in a televised address on Tuesday that the Nevis Island Administration was planning to deliver the plant “shortly.”

Brantley said the plant would “alleviate much of our waste issues and allow us to gain a small amount of renewable energy as well from the process.”

The Deputy Premier did not reveal the launch date of the project, but that details would be provided on the plant “soon.”

Nevis has been making a drive toward green energy in recent years, including the resumption of what had been a stalled geothermal project at the base of Nevis Peak.
