Montreal-based Transat has introduced a second travel package to Haiti that includes a stay in Cap-Haitien, the company announced.
The new package, called “Discover Cap Haitien,” includes two nights in Port-au-Prince, two nights in Cap-Haitien and three nights on the Cote des Arcadins.
The trip includes visits to Haiti’s noted National History Park to see the ruins of the Sans-Souci palace and the Citadelle Laferriere, which together form a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located in the town of Milot near Cap-Haitien.
Cap-Haitien is one of the key areas on the country’s tourism push; Haiti is currently redeveloping its airport in a bid to help draw travelers to the area.
When Transat unveiled its travel packages to Haiti at the beginning of 2013, it was the first major tour operator to do so in recent memory. The debut package last year included Port-au-Prince and the Cote des Arcadins.
The company said both packages were now available under the Transat Holidays brand as part of its new Experience Collection Haiti.
Transat’s next monthly departures from Montreal are scheduled for Wednesday March 19 and Wednesday April 16.
