Christopher Tufton and Arthur Williams, both former Cabinet Ministers, have tendered their resignation from Jamaica’s Senate.
The decision by Tufton, a former Industry Minister in the previous Jamaica Labour Party government and Williams, a former Information Minister, comes after Sunday’s Jamaica Labour Party election, which was won by former Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
Ruel Reid has been appointed as a new Senator, it was announced Friday.
Jamaican Governor General Sir Patrick Allen accepted the pair’s resignations on Friday.
Williams had also served as leader of Opposition business in the Senate; his role will reportedly be filled by Tom Tavares-Finson.
